Missing man’s car found on county road

Local officials are searching for a Lincoln County man who isbelieved to have gone missing sometime Monday.

Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said Travis Henderson, a27-year-old black male, was reported missing by his mother Tuesdaynight. The last time a family member heard from Henderson wasMonday, Rushing said.

A Chevrolet Camaro Henderson had been driving was found in aditch on Little Bahalia Road Monday night. However, officials didnot know the car was linked to Henderson since it was not listed inhis name.

“It looked like it had been run off the road into the edge ofthe woods,” said Rushing. “We didn’t realize it was his car untilwe got the missing persons report Tuesday night and started lookingfor him.”

Rushing said employees of the State Crime Lab will be in thearea Thursday to process the car.

“The crime lab is looking into it, and as far as its contents,it’s still under investigation,” he said. “We can’t release anyfurther information yet until we determine exactly what thesituation might be with it.”

Authorities are still classifying the investigation as a missingpersons investigation. Anyone with information on Henderson, hisdisappearance, or his possible whereabouts is asked to call theLincoln County Sheriff’s Department at (601) 833-5231 orCrimestoppers at (601) 823-0150.
