Services for Smith Quinnon Foster, of Brookhaven, will be heldat 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church inLincoln County with burial in the church cemetery. BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of theservice.

Mr. Foster, 83, died Jan. 10, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lawrence County on April 16, 1924, toQuinnie Foster and Viola Smith Foster.

He was retired from his job in shipping with Delphi Packard. Hewas a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he served as adeacon. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army andearned a Purple Heart for his service.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, JewellFoster; and his sister, Marguerite Warren.

Survivors are his sons, Wayne Mitchell Foster, Roger Dale Fosterand Jason O’Neal Foster, all of Brookhaven; his brothers, HoustonFoster and Leonard Foster, both of Brookhaven; his sixgrandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
