Lady ‘Cats defeat West Lincoln in OT; Bears blast Bobcats

Aneshia Dillon nailed a trey with 30 seconds left in overtime togive the visiting Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats a 60-58 lead over theWest Lincoln Lady Bears. Following a missed shot by the Lady Bears,BC’s Darcy Miller was fouled and nailed both free throws to giveBogue Chitto a 62-58 Division 8-1A win over West Lincoln Fridaynight in Jack Case Gymnasium.

In the varsity boys game, Jeremy Byrd’s double-double, 18 pointsand 10 rebounds, powered West Lincoln to a 60-51 victory over BogueChitto.

Monday night, West Lincoln hosts Resurrection at 5 p.m. andTuesday Night, Bogue Chitto entertains Salem for more divisionaction.

Bogue Chitto 62, West Lincoln 58 (OT)

In overtime, the ‘Cats outscored the Lady Bears 13-9 to pull outthe win In overtime, West Lincoln had gone ahead 58-57 on a freethrow from Kayla Moak before Dillon’s go ahead trey.

The ‘Cats led the Lady Bears 10-9 in the first quarter and 25-23at halftime. Going into the final frame, West Lincoln held a5-point, 40-35, advantage.

The Bogue Chitto girls remain undefeated in the division with a9-0 worksheet. Overall, the ‘Cats are 13-6. West Lincoln fell to5-2 in division play and 12-8 overall.

“We was able to make some our free throws at the end,” saidBogue Chitto girls coach Christi Terrell. “My girls gave the effortthey needed at crunch time. This game could have went both ways. Wehave to work harder on defending West Lincoln’s offense.”

Powering the ‘Cats with 17 points and 13 rebounds, adouble-double, was junior center Kelli Howard. Also netting 17points and grabbing 5 rebounds was Miller. Shelby Tobias pulleddown 9 rebounds.

“We got up in the third quarter but Bogue Chitto came back,”said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “It is my fault we did notexecute in the fourth quarter and OT. We must get ourselves inbetter shape. We need to be better prepared for thesesituations.”

The Lady Bears got a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, plus 3steals from guard Julie Case. Senior center Talashia Fells fired in16 points and collected 6 rebounds. Following with 6 rebounds wasKeri Easley.

Junior varsity games

The West Lincoln boys turned away the Bogue Chitto Bobcats30-27.

Leading the Bears with 18 points was Jay Case.

Cliff Graham netted 9 points for Bogue Chitto.

The Lady Bears nipped the Lady ‘Cats 28-27 in JV girls action.Karli Herrington paced West Lincoln with 14 points.

Sparking Bogue Chitto with 17 points was Aneshia Dillon.
