A 10-year-old Lincoln County boy was killed Thursday night in anaccident while riding his four-wheeler at his home, authoritiessaid.

Lincoln County Deputy Coroner Robert Tyler said Brooks Smithwrecked his all-terrain vehicle Thursday around 8 p.m.

“He either fell or was thrown from a four-wheeler,” saidTyler.

Sheriff Steve Rushing said the accident took place in Smith’sback yard. He was taken by private vehicle to King’s DaughtersMedical Center.

Tyler said Smith, a fifth-grader at West Lincoln AttendanceCenter, was pronounced dead at KDMC at 8:45 p.m. Thursday. Tylersaid he died of massive trauma to the head.

Smith was the son of Mark and Kathy Smith of Brookhaven, andlived at 1794 Pine Tree Trail.

Riverwood Family Funeral Services is handling Smith’sarrangements, which are incomplete.
