Services for Clarence Smith Jr., of Monticello, are 3 p.m.Sunday, March 30, at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Smith, 81, died March 28, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn in Walthall County on Feb. 1, 1927, to Clarence Ray Smith andCavie Lillian Dunaway Smith.

He was a retired lab technician for Georgia-Pacific inMonticello and was in the paper making industry for 39 years. Hewas an active member of New Hope Baptist Church and a member of theBogalusa, La. American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Irene Franklin Smith; hissons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Mary Smith and Len Ray andMargaret Ann Smith, all of Monticello; his grandchildren, LaurieSmith and Kent Young, Karen Smith and Brent Collins, Tammy Smithand Brent Prince, and Christopher Smith; and hisgreat-grandchildren, Ethan and Marlie Young, Mattie Prince,Kathrine Collins, and Kiley Rae and Kassidy Ann Smith.
