Enterprise nips Loyd Star

The host Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets handed the Loyd StarLady Hornets a tough 5-2 division loss in fastpitch softball actionMonday night.

Enterprise improved to 8-13 overall and 1-3 in the division.Loyd Star fell to 2-2 in division play and is 11-12 on theseason.

Loyd Star visits West Lincoln tonight and Enterprise invadesWesson Friday. Tonight’s games begin with the junior varsity at 5followed by the varsity game at 6.

Posting the win on the mound with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks wasChynna Coghlan. Brooke Delaughter took the loss, fanning 8 battersand walking 3.

“Coghlan Pitched a good game,” said Enterprise coach SteveSasser. “Our defense played great and we scored some runs. LoydStar has a good team. We battled hard tonight.”

Loyd Star led Enterprise 1-0 in the first inning. The Jacketsbroke loose for 4 runs in the bottom of the second for a 4-1lead.

In the top of the fourth, Loyd Star picked up another run totrim the Enterprise lead to 4-2. The bottom of the fifth saw theJackets tack on one more run for the 5-2 lead and win.

“We left too many runners on base,” said Loyd Star coach JanDelaughter. “And if you don’t hit, you cannot win. Enterprise wasready and they hit the ball.”

Kolbi Lewis doubled and singled at the plate for the Jackets.Singling twice was Karla Hux. Samantha Richardson and Amanda Burkesingled.

Powering the Hornets with a triple and 2 singles was BrittneyBeeson. Singling were Emily Smith, Carrie Moak, Lindsey Duckworthand Calleye Douglas.

Junior varsity action

Loyd Star knocked off Enterprise 5-1.

Brittany Wallace posted the win, fanning 3 batters and walking3. Taylor Nelson absorbed the loss with 3 strikeouts and 3walks.

At the plate, Kelsey Hux singled for the Jackets.

The Hornets were led by Sarah Falvey with a pair of singles.Doubling was Laura Britt. Ariel Hunsucker hit safely.
