Bogue Chitto stuff West Lincoln

The visiting Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats handed the West LincolnLady Bears a tough 11-1 beating Thursday night in divisionfastpitch softball action. Bogue Chitto clinched its division withthe win.

West Lincoln falls to 5-2 in the division and 8-6 on theseason.

The Lady Bears invade McComb today and travel to EnterpriseSaturday.

Bogue Chitto improved to 15-4 overall and is 7-1 in divisionplay and entertains Brookhaven Monday night.

“It was a great game,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. “Iam proud of my girls. We won district. It was a great effort by thewhole team.”

West Lincoln led Bogue Chitto 1-0 for three innings. The Lady’Cats scored 3 runs in the top of the fourth and fifth innings thenadded 5 more runs in the sixth.

Bogue Chitto outhit West Lincoln 8-3. The Lady Bears committed 5errors in the game.

“We got too much friction going on, ” said West Lincoln coachAndrew Redd. “We were not mentally prepared to play Bogue Chitto.Bogue Chitto played a real good ball game. They deserved towin.”

Posting the win on the mound was Kelli Howard with 5 strikeoutsand 5 walks. Shelby Lofton absorbed the loss, fanning 3 and walking5.

At the plate. Holli Smith, Ashley McCaffrey and Katie Mullinssingled for West Lincoln.

For Bogue Chitto, Josie Porter and Caitlyn Owens led with 2singles apiece. Darcy Miller, Jessie Miller, Shaquille Burton andPorter hit safely.

Junior varsity play

Bogue Chitto knocked off West Lincoln 6-2. Powering the Lady”Cats with a single was Kaylie Crosby.

The Lady Bears got a double from Mullins. Marissa Pruski andAnna Smith singled.

On the mound, Toy Smith posted the win with 3 strikeouts and 4walks. Anne Smith fanned 2 batters and walked 7 followed by KeriEasley with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in the loss.
