Megan Erin Bass

Megan Erin Bass, 15, of Sontag, died May 16, 2008, in a caraccident on Smith Ferry Road in Sontag. She was born in Mississippion July 19, 1992, to Andrew Preston Bass, of Mississippi, andMichelle Lush Reynolds, of Sontag.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Wilson FuneralHome is in charge of arrangements.

She was a student at Lawrence County High School, where she wasa member of the soccer team. She was a member of Shiloh BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death was her grandmother, Martha Ann OakesBass.

Survivors are her parents; her brother, Andrew Preston Bass II,of Sontag; her sister, Ashley Michelle Bass, of Sontag; hergrandparents, Richard E. Bass and Gordon B. and Nan. R. Lush; andher great-grandmothers, Margaret Farris and Bennie Daughdrill.

Bobby Gordon

Services for Bobby Gordon, of McComb, are 11 a.m. Tuesday, May20, at First Baptist Church in McComb with burial in HollywoodCemetery. The Rev. Johnny Lee Taylor will officiate. Jones FamilyFuneral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home andTuesday from 10 until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Gordon, 73, died May 17, 2008, at Hospice Ministries inRidgeland, with his family by his side. He was born in McComb tothe late Tom and Alma Jennings Gordon.

He was a 1952 graduate of McComb High School and a graduate ofboth Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and Mississippi StateUniversity, where he was a diehard Bulldog fan.

Mr. Gordon was called into active duty for the United StatesArmy in 1955. He served three years in Korea and again in 1961 whenthe Berlin Wall went up. He also served several years in theMississippi National Guard.

He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in McComb wherehe was ordained as a deacon in November 1968. He also served andtaught Sunday school at Beverly Healthcare Nursing Home for over 30years.

Mr. Gordon was an employee of the Mississippi Department ofTransportation for more than 37 years until an injury forced hisretirement.

Survivors are his devoted wife of 47 years, Libby HacklerGordon; his daughters, Laurin Shoemaker, of Brandon, and Jane EllenSlagle, of Arlington, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, ThomasRay and Mildred Gordon, of Greenville; his sister, Alma LouiseSmith; three special nephews, Jeff Gordon, of Memphis, Tenn., TommySmith, of Jackson, and Terry Smith, of Houston, Texas; and twograndchildren, Caleb and Emily Slagle.

Pallbearers will be James Clark, Tony Brooks, Fred Stuart, SteveWarren, Dan Lewman and Brother Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Churchin McComb, as well as John Lewis Kennay, Bill Holloway, Bob Hudson,Louie Nolan, Earl Freeman and Bryon Stephenson.

The family requests that memorials be made to the First BaptistChurch in McComb.

James William Lee Sr.

Services for James William Lee Sr., of Brookhaven, are 2:30 p.m.Monday, May 19, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Bethel Temple Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Lee, 68, died May 17, 2008, at his residence. He was born onAug. 24, 1939, to Alfred Lee and Lois Allen.

He was retired. He was a member of Oak Grove Pentecostal Churchand a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, RobertAlfred Lee.

Survivors are his wife, Bobbie Fuller Lee; his sons, JamesWilliam Lee Jr. and wife Shanna, Richard Ted Lee and wife Amy, andJason Norris Lee; and his grandchildren, Will Lee, Ben Lee, KrystenLee, Kaitlyn Lee and Charlie-Anna Lee.

Dimple Reid Brister Mitchell

Services for Dimple Reid Brister Mitchell, of Jayess, were 11a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Providence Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Mitchell, 80, died May 15, 2008, at Baptist MemorialHospital in Jackson. She was born in Jayess on Jan. 21, 1928, toAlbert Reid and Hettie Tullos Reid.

She was a retired nurse and homemaker. She was a member ofProvidence Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, PurvisBrister and Mike Mitchell; one brother; and one sister.

Survivors are her son, Delane Brister and wife Margie, ofJayess; her daughters, Patsy Bullock and husband Robert, of Jayess,Paulette Langbeker and husband Gary, of Mendenhall, and DianeHamilton and husband Doug, of Madison; her brothers, Harold Reidand I.J. Reid, both of Jayess; 12 grandchildren; 20great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
