Allen Harris Moore

Allen Harris Moore, 69, of Banner Elk, N.C., died Sunday, May25, 2008, surrounded by his family in Johnson City Medical Center aweek after an accidental fall at his residence, which resulted in atraumatic head injury.

Born on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in1939 to Robert Emmett Moore Jr. and Sally Harris Moore, he wasreared and educated in Winfield, Ala. While in high school, heexcelled in baseball and basketball. He attended VanderbiltUniversity where he pledged Kappa Sigma and graduated Phi BetaKappa. He then married and served in the Army for two years as afirst lieutenant at Fort Holabird, Md. He returned with his familyto Winfield to work for Tidwell Industries and later moved toJasper, Ala., and then on to Morehead City, N.C. to join ConnerHomes Corporation. In 1991 he became the executive director of BPOil Marketers Association, later called BPAMA (BP AMOCO MarketersAssociation). In 2004 he and his wife retired to Banner Elk.

Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to his family, thework of the United Methodist Church, numerous civic organizationsand most recently to the Banner House Museum. His life was spentcultivating family, friends, and flower gardens wherever he lived.His family and friends will remember him as the most tender-heartedof people, and will miss him dearly.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his older brother,Robert Emmett Moore III.

Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Lynda Stockfisch Moore, aformer resident of Brookhaven and graduate of Brookhaven HighSchool; and his two sons, Emmett Allen Moore and Walter HarrisMoore; his grandchildren: Robert and James; and his daughter-in-lawElizabeth Davis Moore.

A service was held at First United Methodist Church in Winfield,Ala., on Saturday, May 31.

A second service will be held on Saturday, June 14, at 7 p.m.,at Banner Elk United Methodist Church in Banner Elk, N.C.

Karen Warne

A memorial service for Karen Warne, of Wichita, Kan., will beheld at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, at Bethany United MethodistChurch. Broadway Mortuary in Wichita is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Warne, 60, died June 3, 2008. She was born on June 17,1947, in Brookhaven, to Jesse and Frances McRee Oberschmidt.

She was a retired bookkeeper.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her husband, Earl Warne, of Wichita; her sister,Glenda Masselink, of Michigan, Fla.; her daughter, Margaret Warne,of Wichita; her stepson, Carl Warne, of Augusta, Kan.; her threegrandchildren; brothers, Joe Warne, of Peck, Kan., Helen Bishop, ofPretty Prairie, Kan., and Wendy Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev.; andseveral nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
