Services for Royce LaVar Williams Dixon, of Brookhaven, will beheld at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Brookhaven Living WordChristian Center in Brookhaven with burial on Friday, June 13, at11 a.m., in Rosehill City Cemetery in Brookhaven. Williams Mortuaryis in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Thursday from 1 until 7 p.m. at the church, withfamily hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
Mr. Dixon, 30, died June 7, 2008, at the University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in New Orleans,La., on March 17, 1978, to Roy Lee Dixon and Beverly Williams DixonHoward.
He was a 1996 graduate of Brookhaven High School. He attendedJackson State University, Delgado Community College in New Orleansand Holmes Community College in Ridgeland, where he was one classaway from completing his degree in Mortuary Science. He was afuneral director with his family-owned business, Williams Mortuary,prior to his disability. After he became disabled, he became CEO ofHeavenly Transportation, a joint venture with his mother. He was aminister with the ROCK Prison Oriented Outreach Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors are his mother, Beverly Williams Dixon Howard, ofBrookhaven; his stepfather, Johnny B. Howard, of Brookhaven; hissisters, Jennifer Howard, of Brookhaven, Debra Dover, of Memphis,Tenn., Jackie Batteast, of Brookhaven, and Tsylyn Person, of Ft.Worth, Texas; his brothers, Roy M. Dixon and Terry Gayten, both ofBrookhaven; his aunts, Patricia Williams Tillman and PurdeneWilliams Brown, both of Brookhaven, and Ladine Thomas, ofSpringfield, Mass.; his uncle, Julius Dixon, of Detroit, Mich.; andmany relatives, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
