East Lincoln cousins die in unrelated accidents

Two East Lincoln area men died within 24 hours of each other atthe University of Mississippi Medical Center after separateaccidents in the same week rendered them both comatose, LincolnCounty Coroner Clay McMorris said.
Steven Wade Reeves, 25, of Harbor Lane, succumbed to injuries hesustained in a June 26 swimming pool accident at 4:30 p.m. Thursdayafternoon. McMorris said deputies and first responders on the scenethe day of the accident were able to restore breathing and aheartbeat through CPR, but Reeves, who went into a coma, neverregained consciousness.
He was taken to UMC, where he died Thursday.
Reeves, who was autistic, lived with his parents, Steve and JoyceBrister Reeves. Visitation was held Saturday evening and funeralservices, which are being handled by Riverwood Family FuneralService, will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wellman Baptist Churchin Bogue Chitto.
Robbie Daniel Brister, 45, of Allen Road, died Friday as a resultof a horseback riding accident. McMorris said Brister was acompetitive rider and was practicing roping with his son on theirproperty when the accident occurred. Emergency responders said theaccident occurred Tuesday afternoon.
Brister was also airlifted to UMC, where he also never regainedconsciousness. He was pronounced dead around 10 a.m. Fridaymorning.
Brister was married to Tina Allen Brister, and they have one son,Dane Kristopher. His visitation will be held Sunday night from 5until 9 p.m. at Riverwood, with services Monday at 11 a.m. at theRiverwood Chapel.
McMorris said family members told him that the two men werecousins.
