Services for Janice Anne Mason, of Clinton, are 1 p.m. Monday,July 21, at First Baptist Church in Raymond. A graveside servicewill follow at Raymond Cemetery, where she will be laid to restbeside her mother, Esther Jane Gunnell Mason and her infantdaughter, Clara. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at thechurch.
Mrs. Mason, 58, died July 19, 2008, at her residence in Clinton.She was born at King’s Daughters Hospital on May 2, 1950, to theRev. Sam Mason and Esther Jane Gunnell Mason.
She moved with her family to Jackson as a young child andattended North Jackson schools before graduating from Callaway HighSchool in 1968. She also attended Mississippi State College forWomen and retired from Bellsouth after 30 years of service. She wasmarried to Tony Brock for 13 years. Mrs. Mason acquired a love ofgrowing flowers from her father, becoming particularly fond of daylilies, which she often hybridized herself. She also loved totravel, enjoying trips to such places as the mountains, beaches,New York City and Disney World. Although she battled cancer foryears, Mrs. Mason remained a child at heart. She touched the livesof many through her compassion, kind nature and generous spirit.Mrs. Mason was a devoted member of First Baptist Church inRaymond.
Preceding her in death were her mother and an infantdaughter.
Survivors are her father; a brother, Sam Mason andsister-in-law, Susan; her nephew and niece, Bryan and Anna Mason;and her loving friend and caregiver, Donna Clower
