Bogue Chitto, Enterprise split softball doubleheader

Lincoln County rivals Bogue Chitto and Enterprise split avarsity doubleheader Thursday evening, at Enterprise. The LadyBobcats slipped past the Lady Jackets 6-5 in the opener, butEnterprise picked up a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

Both teams participate in the Enterprise Tournament Saturday.Enterprise takes on Lawrence Co. at 11:30 a.m., McComb at 2 p.m.and Bogue Chitto at 7. Bogue Chitto tackles Wesson at 10:15 a.m.,followed by Lawrence County at 3:15.

Other tournament action pits West Lincoln against McComb in the9 a.m. opener. West Lincoln takes on Wesson at 12:45 p.m. Wessonplays McComb at 4:30 and West Lincoln battles Lawrence County at5:45.

Bogue Chitto 6, Enterprise 5

The Lady ‘Cats erupted for 5 runs in the top half of the first,before Enterprise cut their deficit to a single run at 5-4 in thebottom of the inning.

The Lady Jackets had the bases loaded with 1 out in the bottomof the seventh. A pair of quick outs by the Lady ‘Cats defense keptEnterprise from pushing the game-winning run across home plate.

“We have got to find a way to win the close games,” saidEnterprise head coach Steve Sasser following the game. “We arestarting to come around.”

Leading the Enterprise attack was Ashley Greer with 3singles.

Erika Rutland singled twice. Sam Richardson singled and doubled.Also collecting base hits were Kayla Hux, Kolbi Lewis, Lacey Orr,Sarah Burke and Ann Marie Cole.

For Bogue Chitto, Kelli Howard singled twice and doubled. ChrisMay had 2 singles. Other base hits came from Josie Porter, HollyMiller, Bradi Davis and Toy Smith. Darcy Miller doubled.

Blaine Meyers (3 BB, 0 K) authored the win, while Orr (2 BB, 1K) took the loss.

Enterprise 4, Bogue Chitto 2

The Lady ‘Cats, coached by Scott Leggett, were limited to 5hits. Singles was hit by Darcy Miller (2), Howard, Miller andMeyers. Meyers (2 BB, 0 K) suffered the loss for Bogue Chitto.

Enterprise got 12 hits in the nightcap. Hux, who missed hittingfor the cycle, singled, doubled and tripled. Rutland singled twice.Base hits were hit by Greer, Lewis, Richardson, Orr, Burke andHannah Russell.

Orr got the win for the Lady Jackets.
