Reward offered for man’s arrest in fatal accident

A Sontag man is wanted on charges of felony driving under theinfluence causing death and four counts of mayhem in an accidentthat left a 16-year-old girl dead, Lawrence County officialssaid.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 forinformation leading to the arrest of Dustin C. Sills, 24.

Sills is accused of being the driver in a fatal accident May 17that killed Megan Bass of Sontag. Officials said at the time of theaccident there were seven people in the car, all of which wereinjured.

The accident occurred near the intersection of B. F. Davis Roadand Smith Ferry Road on the north side of Sontag. The vehicle, a1993 Saturn XL2, which was traveling south, fishtailed throughloose gravel while rounding a curb. The vehicle impacted the treeon the right rear passenger-side door, where Bass was seated,killing her on impact.

Sills is approximately 140 pounds, 5 feet nine inches, withhazel eyes and brown hair.
