Easley’s big day helps Lady Bears wallop McComb

McCOMB – Left fielder Keri Easley enjoyed a career day at theplate Monday. She slugged a home run, a triple and 2 doubles,powering the West Lincoln Lady Bears to an 11-3 victory overMcComb’s Lady Tigers in slowpitch softball action.,

Coach Andrew Redd’s Lady Bears raised their record to 19-7overall and 6-0 in Division 7-1A. Reigning Division 7-1A champions,they will host a first-round state playoffs series Tuesday, Oct. 7.They expect to play Nanih Waiya in a best-of-three series startingat 4 p.m.

Today’s game at Enterprise was canceled. Enterprise is making upa doubleheader with Division 6-2A foe McLaurin this afternoon.

“It’s good to see us hit that well in our last regular seasongame,” said Redd. “We had two home runs hit over the fence. We havehad a real good year.”

Easley and second baseman Hannah Knouse sent softballs sailingover the outfield fence in a 17-hit offensive. Knouse and AlexisCook doubled. Haley Ainsworth collected 3 singles. Stephanie Smithand Jessica Franklin had 2 hits apiece. Shelby Lofton and AshleyMcCaffey singled.

Franklin (1 K, 2 BB) was the winning pitcher. Lauren Mobile (0K, 2 BB) absorbed the loss for Coach Chad Hall’s squad.

The Tigers rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh toavoid a shutout. West Lincoln led 2-0 in the first and 4-0 after3.

In the JV game, West Lincoln notched a 15-5 victory. Kayla BethRushing (3 K, 5 BB) was the winning pitcher.

At the plate, the Bears were led by Haley Ainsworth and TaylorCrews who both doubled and tripled. Rebecca Reeves doubled andsingled. Taylor Lofton singled twice. Peyton Mullins and Rushingsingled.
