Stephen Patrick Cupit

Services for Stephen Patrick Cupit, of McCall Creek, are 10 a.m.Thursday, Dec. 18, at Bude Baptist Church with burial in DamascusChurch Cemetery. The Rev. Lonnie J. Case, the Rev. Brad Moak andthe Rev. Leland Smith will officiate. Franklin Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9until 10 a.m. at Bude Baptist Church.

Mr. Cupit, 29, died Dec. 15, 2008, in Pike County. He was bornin Brookhaven on July 12, 1979, to Billy Pat Cupit and Linda FayCase Cupit.

He was a construction worker. He was a member of DamascusBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death was his grandfather, Earl Cupit.

Survivors are his parents, Billy Pat and Linda Cupit, of McCallCreek; his wife, Leslie Cupit, of McCall Creek; a daughter, LibbyGrace Cupit, of McCall Creek; a brother, Charlie Cupit, of McCallCreek; his grandparents, Lela Cupit, Charles V. and Jewell FayCase, all of McCall Creek; his mother- and father-in-law, Debbieand John Terry, of Meadville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law,Jennifer and Braxton Whitehead, of Meadville; his two nieces and anephew.

Pallbearers are Casey Wilkinson, Brad Arnold, Clint Wilkinson,Chris Grice and Shane Boswell.

Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Cupit, Larry Joe “Jo Jo”Wilkinson, John Priest, Braxton Whitehead, Clay Griffin and ClintGriffin.

Donis A. Foote

Services for Donis A. Foote, of Brookhaven, are 2:30 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 18, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on NatchezDrive with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Foote, 90, died Dec. 16, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. She was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 16, 1918,to John Wesley Alderman and Minnie Wactor Alderman.

She was a retired licensed practical nurse, having worked forDr. James E. Williams for 21 years and was known to all as”Footsie.” Mrs. Foote was former president of the MississippiLicensed Practical Nurses Association. She served as a delegate atthe National Licensed Practical Nurses Convention. Mrs. Foote was amember of the Mississippi and National Republican Party. She was amember of Central Baptist Church and served as a Sunday schoolteacher and in numerous other positions. Mrs. Foote was a dedicatedmother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking andsharing with all. She loved her God, her family and America.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leslie L.Foote Sr.; her brothers, Venton and Ralph Alderman; and a sister,Yuba Redd.

Survivors are a son, Leslie Lamar Foote Jr. and wife, Sherry, ofBrookhaven; a daughter, Jane Derrick and husband, Robert, ofWesson; her three grandsons; and her six great-grandchildren.

Lorenzo Dow ‘L.D.’ Posey

Services for Lorenzo Dow “L.D.” Posey, of Union Church, are 11a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Union Church Baptist Church in JeffersonCounty with burial in the Union Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home on Natchez Drive and Thursday from 10 until 11 a.m. atthe church.

Mr. Posey, 93, died Dec. 15, 2008, at The University ofMississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Union Churchon Dec. 30, 1914, to Irvin Lee and Alda Armitta RodriguezPosey.

He attended Piedmont School in Jefferson County and graduatedfrom the Jefferson County Agricultural High School in Union Church.Later, Mr. Posey married Mary Ruth Williamson on Sept. 25, 1943. Hewas a decorated World War II veteran earning a Bronze Star amongother medals for distinguishing himself by meritorious service inconnection with a military operation against an enemy of the UnitedStates. After World War II, he began work with The Brown and RootConstruction Company, which was in the process of constructing theTexas Eastern Natural Gas Transmission Station in Union Church.After the completion of construction, Mr. Posey began hisemployment with Texas Eastern at the new plant where he became asenior operator. He later retired in 1980. L.D. enjoyed a long,happy and blessed life in his retirement years, where he spent manydays with his wife of 65 years. He enjoyed farming with his 8-NFord tractor, hunting and helping rear his four grandchildren. Mr.Posey was a member of Union Church Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Flora MaePosey, Welma Laine Posey and Allie Lee Posey; his two brothers,Dempsey Felice Posey and Ralph Haskel Posey.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Ruth; his two sons, Lynn and RobinPosey and their wives, Kathy and Ellen. He also leaves fourgrandchildren, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Clay and Emily.
