Bucs ambush BA teams

FRANKLINTON, La. – The Bowling Green Buccaneers swept a pair ofvarsity basketball games from the Brookhaven Academy Cougars Fridaynight.

Anna Lofton pumped in 14 points and pulled down 6 rebounds inthe losing cause as Brookhaven Academy fell to Bowling Green45-42.

In the boys game, Blaine Roberts had 18 points and 5 reboundsbut they weren’t enough to stop the Cougars from losing to the Bucs52-45.

Bowling Green 45, Brookhaven 42

The Brookhaven girls (9-4) trailed Bowling Green 28-10 at thehalf. The Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray, outscored the LadyBucs 32-17 in the second half but fell 3 points short.

Center Anna Katelyn Mangold finished with 10 points and 11rebounds for a double-double for Brookhaven.

Bowling Green got 14 points and 6 rebounds from Brittney Cooper.Callie Brock finished with 13 points.

Bowling Green 52, Brookhaven 45

Coach Dale Watts watched as his Cougars (8-2) trailed the Bucs30-23 at the half and led them 34-33 going into the fourth quarter.A 21-10 run by Bowling Green secured the win.

Jamison Powell netted 9 points for the Cougars. Jake Reed wastops off the backboards with 15 rebounds.

For the Bucs, Jaron Edwards led with 18 points and pulled down 6rebounds. Finishing with 14 points and 4 rebounds was AndrewWood.
