James Lamar Calcote

Services for James Lamar Calcote, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, Dec. 29, at Bethel United Methodist Church with burial inthe church cemetery. The Revs. Ivan Gray, Loyd Calcote and RoyBarlow will officiate.

Mr. Calcote, 79, died Dec. 26, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospitalin Centreville. He was born on Aug. 8, 1929, to Versie Calcote andRutha Posey Calcote.

He retired after 36 years with Getty and Texaco Oil Co. and wasa member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Air Forceveteran serving during the Korean Conflict and also served twoyears in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a brother, HenryCalcote.

Survivors are his wife, Irene Wallace Calcote; his son, JamesDonald Calcote and wife, Cindy, of Cookeville, Tenn.; his stepsons,Danny Bertram, of Axix, Ala., and Darrell Bertram and wife, Cristy,of Creola, Ala.; his daughter, Cindy Trest and husband, Mark, ofBay Springs; his stepdaughter, Sonya Thames and husband, Alan, ofRuth; his brother, the Rev. Loyd Calcote and wife, Ann, ofBrookhaven; and his sisters, Willena Varnado, of Ridge Crest, La.,Mary Lou Barlow and husband, the Rev. Roy, of Hurley, Elva Smithand husband, Melvin, of Long Beach, Bernita Reeves and husband,Ronnie, of Monticello; his sister-in-law, Thelma Calcote, ofBrookhaven; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Calvin andCathy Wallace, Johnny and Cookie Wallace, Liz Franklin, Sherrilland Jerri Wallace, Mary Ann and John Ritchie, Paul and SounniaWallace, Jackie Wilkinson, Myrtle and Paul Cartwright, Ray andPaulette Wallace and Roy and Susan Wallace, all of Brookhaven; avery special friend, Joe Frank Woods, of Creola, Ala.; his 10grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren; and many nieces,nephews, other family and friends.

Raul Federico Chavez

Services for Raul Federico Chavez, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, Dec. 29, at First Apostolic United Pentecostal Church inBrookhaven with burial in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Chavez, 31, died Dec. 23, 2008, in Hazlehurst. He was bornin Houston, Texas on Jan. 18, 1977, to Federico Chavez and CeliaBribriesca.

Survivors are his parents; a son, Jacob Chavez; a daughter,Mallory Chavez; his sisters, Maria Liddle, Lucia Bloom and CeliaJimenez.

John Jefferson ‘Johnny’ Hall IV

John Jefferson “Johnny” Hall IV died of cancer on Dec. 26, 2008,at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla.

He was born Dec. 30, 1970, in McComb to John Jefferson Hall IIIand Nancy Sumrall Hall of Progress.

He graduated from Parklane Academy and Southwest MississippiCommunity College. He attended Mississippi State University and wasthe proud owner of Safe and Sound Communications. He worked as longas his health permitted. He was a longtime member of Silver CreekBaptist Church.

John loved motorbikes and rode his Harley to Sturgis, S. D., in2003. This was a lifelong dream he was able to accomplish andfrequently reflected on with great satisfaction.

He was full of life and wit and could make us laugh in spite ofhis illness. Even his medical records state he denied pain. Johnhad much faith and believed God had a plan for his life and waswilling to do his part to the very end.

Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Brooklyn Hope Halland his grandparents, John Hall Jr. and Billie Fortenberry Hall andCarl Sumrall and Mamie Jacobs Sumrall, of Morton.

Survivors include his parents; his twin children, John J. Hall Vand Hope Madison Hall; his two sisters- and brothers-in-law, NancyJill Hall Brown and Hugh and Jennifer April Hall Sowell andStephen; his two nephews, Christopher Holmes and Luke Sowell; histwo nieces, Jessica Holmes and Emily Sowell; and many uncles,aunts, and cousins.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 29, from 5 until 8 p.m. atSilver Creek Baptist Church in Magnolia and continues Tuesday, Dec.30, from 9 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. ChadYarborough and Jimmy Smith will officiate.

Pallbearers will be James Hall, Christopher Holmes, RayMcElveen, Bobby Sterling Jr., Kevin Leist and James Long.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made toThe American Cancer Society.

Ethel Maxwell Wilson

Services for Ethel Maxwell Wilson, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 27, at Community Funeral Services Chapel with burialin New Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson, 89, died Dec. 22, 2008, in Denham Springs, La. Shewas born in Lawrence County on June 19, 1919, to Johnnie S. Maxwelland Terra M. Russuell.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, J.W. “Bud”Wilson; a son, James Wilson; his two brothers; and threesisters.

Survivors are her sons, Bobby L. Wilson, of Madisonville, Ky.,and Terry M. Wilson, of Monticello; a daughter, Ouida Wilson Dodds;a brother, Curtiss Maxwell; and her sisters, Johnnie Boyd, LouiseMason, Billie Lambert, Mary Nell Lambert, Betty Hammons, LillianBarker; her 11 grandchildren; and her 19 great-grandchildren; andher numerous great-great-grandchildren.
