Services for Johnnie Reid Jr., of Hazlehurst, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Jan. 3, at Antioch M.B. Church in Hazlehurst with burialin the Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at WilliamsMortuary.

Mr. Reid, 83, died Dec. 29, 2008, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Hazlehurst on Aug. 23,1925 to Johnnie Reid Sr. and Bernice Wallace Reid.

He was a graduate of Hazlehurst public schools and attendedAlcorn College. Mr. Reid retired after 43 years with HuntingtonLumber Company. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He wasa member of Antioch M.B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, DorothyCalhoun.

Survivors are his wife, Victoria Alexander Reid, of Hazlehurst;his children, Johnny L. Reid, Janice Woods, Hubbard Terry, RickyChase, all of Hazlehurst, Marian Harrod, Valarie Cortez, RickyReid, all of Riverside, Calif., Billy Reid, of Richfield, Minn.,David Reed, Vickie Terrell, both of Crystal Springs, Wayne Reid, ofBentonville, Ark., Glenda Savage, of Port Gibson, and KennethJones, of Houston, Texas; his stepchildren, Kevin Brown, EricBrown, both of Hazlehurst, Dorothy Lovett, of Jackson, and WillieJones, of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Katheleen Howard, of Grayson,Ga.; a brother, Andrew Reid, of Hazlehurst; his many grandchildren;and his many great-grandchildren.
