Wesson man killed in Saturday night accident

A Wesson man was the victim of a one-vehicle accident Saturdaynight in Byram, officials said.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said Que-Bec AnthonySmith was pronounced dead on the scene after the vehicle he wasriding in with three other men left the road and struck a pole ofInterstate 55 in Byram.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Public Affairs Officer Sgt.Rusty Boyd said the accident occurred just before midnight nearI-55 mile marker 86.

“The vehicle ran of I-55 northbound and across the east frontageroad and flipped several times,” Boyd said.

Smith was a rear-seat passenger in the 2001 Daewoo driven byDominac E. Bridges, 27, of Brookhaven, who sustained moderateinjuries, Boyd said. Also riding in the vehicle were AndraeBridges, 24, of Brookhaven, and Smith’s brother, Moses Smith, 23,also of Wesson. Boyd said their conditions are unknown.

Grisham-Stewart said Smith was ejected from the vehicle. Thecause of the accident is under investigation.

Williams Mortuary is handling Smith’s arrangements, which areincomplete.
