BA knocks off Buccaneers

The host Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars swept avarsity doubleheader from the Bowling Green Buccaneers Saturday atJohn R. Gray Gymnasium. They also got some revenge for two roadlosses at Bowling Green in Franklinton, La.

Jake Reed’s 15 points and 11 rebounds powered the BrookhavenAcademy boys to a 48-21 win over Bowling Green.

The Lady Cougars whipped the Lady Bucs 51-17, sparked by TerahWinborne’s 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

BA 48, B. Green 21

The BA boys, coached by Dale Watts, improved to 14-5 on theseason. Sidney Chaffin netted 13 points in the win. Jamison Powellpulled down 10 rebounds as the Cougars avenged a 52-45 loss atBowling Green last month..

Bowling Green got 12 points and 7 rebounds from JaronEdwards.

BA 51, B. Green 17

Coach Barry Gray’s 16-4 Lady Cougars got 7 points apiece fromAnna Lofton and Marian Allen. Laura Beth Wright and Lofton pulleddown 6 rebounds apiece.

The Lady Bucs, who won 45-42 last time, got 7 points and 6rebounds from Whitney Crowe.

Brookhaven Academy visits Columbia Academy Tuesday.
