Miley Rose Copelan

Graveside services for Miley Rose Copelan, of Bogue Chitto, were11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemeteryin Bogue Chitto. Riverwood Family Funeral Service was in charge ofarrangements.

The infant was born on Feb. 1, 2009. She died on Feb. 2, 2009,at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, RollinCopelan.

She is survived by her parents, Alan and Tisha Copelan, of BogueChitto; her sister, Kaylee Layne Copelan, of Bogue Chitto; hergrandparents, Sharon Coplan, of Bogue Chitto, and Don and LizHarvey, of Jayess; and a number of other relatives.

Danny R. Ladner

Danny Raymond Ladner, 63, of Bogue Chitto, died Feb. 2, 2009, atSouthwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center emergency room aftera sudden illness.

Visitation is 5 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hathorn Funeral Home,Columbia, and resuming Thursday morning at 10 a.m. until funeralservices at 3 p.m. at Hathorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial willfollow at Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion Countyunder the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home as well as HathornFuneral Home.

Mr. Ladner was born June 20, 1945, in Columbia. He was the sonof Dorothy Kirkfield Ladner Byrne, of Columbia, and the late L.V.Ladner.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served two tours inVietnam with the Special Forces, 101st Airborne Division. He was alongtime sandblaster having worked for various monument companiesand was the former owner/operator of Custom Sandblasting Inc. Hewas currently employed with Cotten’s Carpet Cleaning andRestoration of Summit. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church ofColumbia and attended Bethel Baptist Church of Bogue Chitto.

Mr. Ladner was preceded in death by his father, L.V. Ladner; hisstepfather, Dr. William James “Jim” Byrne; and two aunts, HazelHowell and Lucille Powell.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Dana Gail WallaceLadner, of Bogue Chitto; his mother, Dorothy Byrne, of Columbia;two stepsons, Chase Bonham and Travis Bonham, both of Bogue Chitto;his sister, Judy L. Barber and her husband, Kenneth, of Columbia;his aunt, Wanda Pittman, of Foxworth; his sister-in-law, Neisha W.Leggett; his brother-in-law, Josh Leggett; his niece, Joy Leggett;and nephew, Jax Leggett, all of Bogue Chitto; his nephews, ShawnBarber, Zane Barber and great-nephew, Dallas Barber, all ofColumbia; his mother-in-law, Gail Wallace and father-in-law, DanWallace, both of Bogue Chitto; and numerous cousins, friends andother relatives.

Alphonso Phillips Jr.

Services for Alphonso Phillips Jr., of Baton Rouge, La.,formerly of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at WilliamsMortuary Chapel with burial in Carver Heights Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Phillips died Feb. 1, 2009, at Louisiana State UniversityMedical Center in Baton Rouge, La. He was born on Jan. 31, 1948, inBrookhaven. His father was Alphonso Phillips Sr.

He attended Alexander High School, the Class of 1966. He wasdisabled and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandmother,Pinkie Phillips.

Survivors include his daughter, Charlene McCall, of Brookhaven;his grandsons, Alonzo Markham, of Coralville, Iowa, and JavarrisMarkham, of Brookhaven; and his former wife, Sarah Phillips, ofBrookhaven.

Ella V. Newton Sandidge

Services for Ella V. Newton Sandidge, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inFriendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Visitation is 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Sandidge, 88, died Feb. 2, 2009, at Golden Living Center-Brook Manor nursing facility. She went to be with her Lord withfamily members by her side. She was born on July 8, 1920, toRichard Elias Newton and Ruth Allgood Newton.

She was a homemaker, a devoted wife and loving mother. She was amember of Easthaven Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LeRoyScott Sandidge; her brothers, Richard Newton, Robert Newton andMarshall Newton; and three sisters, Annie Ruth Newton, Kathleen N.Driskill and Elsie N. Bowman.

Survivors include her sons, Mitchell Sandidge and his wife,Janice, of Little Rock, Ark., and Edward Sandidge and his wife,Ada, of Ocean Springs; her daughter, Patricia Butler and herhusband, LeRoy, of West; two brothers Rosco Newton, of Centreville,and Sherman Newton, of Brookhaven; her sister, Nora Bell West, ofBrookhaven; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; threestep-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren; and a hostof nieces, nephews and other relatives.
