Former resident dies in apparent murder-suicide

SOLEBURY, PA. – Solebury, Pa., police are investigating anapparent murder-suicide of a former Brookhaven resident and afriend at a home near the township.

Police said a cleaning woman discovered the bodies of JerryRudman, 48, and Joseph Lofft, 50, on Thursday. Rudman grew up inBrookhaven and is the son of Iris Rudman Coker and the late JerryRudman. Coker is a former City Clerk of Brookhaven.

Police reports indicate Rudman, was found in the garage withmultiple gun shot wounds. Lofft, who police said appears to be theshooter, was found in an upstairs room.

Solebury Police Chief Dominick Bellizzie said the investigationof the crime scene suggests the Lofft attempted to clean up thecrime scene, then went upstairs and committed suicide.

Lofft was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving around 3 a.m.Wednesday morning by Solebury police. He was charged with drivingunder the influence and released shortly after. His car wasimpounded and Rudman picked him up, police said.
