Services for Clinton W. Martin Sr., of Wesson, were held atDecell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wesson with burial inHollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Mr. Martin, 84, died March 6, 2009, at his residence. He wasborn in Pike County to Fred Marshall Martin and Martha BrumfieldMartin.

He was a reared on a farm near Felder’s Campground. He attendedCarter’s Creek School and Southwest Mississippi Community College.Mr. Martin was a self-taught watchmaker and worked at Hainer’s andSelman’s jewelers in McComb during his first career. Hisself-acquired knowledge of electronics led to many years ofenjoyment as an amateur radio operator (K5JMD) and a second careerin the audio/visual department of the McComb Public School System.He retired from the latter in June 1990 after 22.5 years. Mr.Martin was a member of Decell Memorial United Methodist Church inWesson. He will be remembered as a kind and loving father andhusband, and for his unique sense of humor. He derived greatpleasure from helping others.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Alice MartinPate; and his brothers, Sam Olen Martin, Murry Hilton Martin, LloydA. Martin, Billy B. Martin, Marshall E. Martin and John H.Martin.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Bettye Jayne Hudson Martin,of Wesson; a daughter, Gerry Martin Daughdrill and husband, Dr. RoyWilson Daughdrill, of Wesson; a son, Dr. Clinton W. Martin Jr., ofOcean Springs; a grandson, Jaron W. Martin, of Gulfport; hissisters, Alma Martin McCullough Boyd, of the Felder’s Campgroundcommunity, and Geraldine Martin Brown, of Madison; a number ofnieces and nephews; and a special friend and neighbor, DianeMcIntyre.
