Helmstetter no-hits Mendenhall Tigers

Brookhaven pitcher Nick Helmstetter fanned 6 batters and walked3 in a 5-inning, no-hitter and sparked the host Panthers to a 12-0Division 6-4A win against the Mendenhall Tigers in varsity baseballaction Tuesday night at rainy Moyer Field.

“We struggled a little bit,” said Brookhaven head baseball coachRandy Spring. “Nick set the tone for us. We played really well andI was real pleased with our effort after the layoff.”

Spring’s Panthers hiked their record to 12-5 overall and 7-3 inthe division.

Absorbing the loss was Taylor Teddie with 1 strikeout and 5walks. Also seeing action was Jacob Harris who finished with nostrikeouts and walked 2.

Helmstetter powered the Panthers with a pair of doubles and asingle. Homering was Zach Halliwell. Chris Seals doubled.
