East Webster hammers Bo’ Chitto

BOGUE CHITTO – Bogue Chitto managed 2 hits and committed 6errors in Thursday night’s 17-2 loss to the East Webster Wolverinesin the first game of the best-of-three series in the second roundof the Class 1A State Baseball Playoffs.
Bogue Chitto (11-9) travels to Maden Saturday to meet EastWebster (26-3) at 4 p.m. If necessary, Game 3 will be playedimmediately after.
Tanner Roberson posted the win with 3 strikeouts and no walks.Working in relief was Jordan Mixon with1 strikeout and 3 walks.
Taking the loss in 1.2 innings was Cole Laird with 2 strikeoutsand 3 walks. Garrett Wallace worked until the fourth with 2strikeouts and 4 walks. Hunter Ginn finished the final 2 inningswith 1 strikeout and 2 walks.
“We’ve got to regroup and prepare for Saturday,” said BogueChitto head coach Curt Crain. “East Webster is a good team and hitsthe ball. We must be ready to play our best up there.”
Senior Seth Avants ripped a home run in the first inning for theBobcats. Colton McClendon singled.
“We swung the bats well,” said East Webster coach West Johnson.”Bogue Chitto competed well. But our bats were on. Bogue Chitto hasa young team and they don’t give up.”
Blake Love homered and singled for the Wolverines. Cody Silverdoubled twice. Doubling were Reggie Obriant, Christopher Gordon,Taylor Williams and Roberson.
