Services for Ruth Marie Antionette Buie, of Brookhaven, are 2p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at St. Paul M.B. Church with burial in CarverHeights Cemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Buie, 62, died May 19, 2009, at University of MississippiMedical Center. She was born in Brookhaven on May 4, 1947, toFarris Adams and Ruth Adams.

She was a 1964 graduate of Lanier High School. She attendedcollege in Los Angeles, Calif., and Chicago, Ill. She was a retiredvocalist, pianist and model. She was a member of St. Paul M.B.Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister, GenevaAdams; and her brother, Nathaniel “Bill” Adams.

Survivors are her husband, Elton Buie, of Brookhaven; her sons,Johnnie Lee Smith III and Chan Smith, both of Brookhaven; herdaughters, Phina’ Dixon, of Los Angeles, Chana Perry, RackhemPerry, Mia Perry, Amonenika “Meka” Perry, Lamiakia Smith and RobinSmith, all of Brookhaven; her sisters, Betty Champion and DaisyDavis, both of Los Angeles, Evelyn Riddle, of San Francisco,Calif., Juanita Cooper, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Clementine Markham,of Springfield, Mass.; her brothers, M. L. Martin, of El Paso,Texas, and Farris Adams, of Chicago, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; andthree great-grandchildren.
