Lin. Co., Wesson All-Stars begin regional play Friday

The Lincoln County 7 and 9-year-old All Stars and the Wesson12-year-old All Stars begin Dixie Youth Baseball South RegionalCompetition Friday in Magee and Hattiesburg. The Lincoln CountyNational 7’s are at Magee while the Lincoln County American 9’s andWesson 12’s are at Hattiesburg.
Nine teams will be competing in each division under thedouble-elimination format. The tournament begins Friday andcontinues daily through Thursday.
The 7-year-old Nationals meet Petal’s Americans Friday in Mageeat 4 p.m. on Peoples Bank Field (1). They finished runner-up tochampionMcComb in the District 6.
The Lincoln County 7’s, coached by Randy Spring, include JohnBurns, Karlton Byrd, Jett Calcote, Garrison Coffey, Jerid Dunaway,Austin Fugler, Travis Hall, Dustin Prather, Carson Rounsaville,Cole Smith, Brady Spring and Gatson Walker. Assistant coaches areChase Fugler, Clint Rounsaville and Gatson Walker.
The 9-year-old Americans, managed by Stan Winborne, tangle withMagee in Hattiesburg in the Ball Park at 4 on Field 5. TheAmericans are the District 6 champs after beating runner-upWalthall last week. The games will be broadcast live on 92.1.
Playing for the American 9’s are Cade Hodges, Cullen Keene,Dillon Griffin, Dylan Winborne, Johnny Bowman, Justin Johnson, LukeBurns, Marquis Bridges, Parker Flowers, Peyton Smith, TannerWaldrop and Tucker Lambert. Stan Winborne is the general manager.Assistants Brad Hodges and Kyle Johnson.
The 12-year-old Wesson All-Stars, square off against Magee at 6p.m. on Field 1 in Hattiesburg. Wesson is the District champ andSummit is the runner-up.
The Wesson Athletic Foundation’s 12’s feature Max Daughdrill,Mac McQuage, Jase Alexander, Ryan Traxler, Connor Lowery, MarkSmith, Peyton Hood, C.J. Viramontez, Colby Porter, Trent Nettles,Farred Logan and David Forehand. Coaches are Jerry Hood and StevePorter.
