Afternoon blaze claims mobile home

No one was injured in a structure fire in the northern part ofthe county Monday afternoon, officials said.

New Sight Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Boyd said the mobile home at1242 Henry’s Trail was fully involved when his units began toarrive on scene. He said neighbors had called the fire in to911.

“I just looked out the window and it was burning,” said neighborGloria Williams, whose home sustained some damage to the sidingfrom the heat of the blaze next door.

The home that was destroyed belonged to family member MelvinSanders, Williams said, but nobody had lived there for quite sometime.

“They got here and kept the fire off our house,” she said of thevolunteer fire departments.

Units from New Sight, Heuck’s Retreat and Wesson firedepartments remained on scene until the fire was fullyextinguished. Boyd estimated the damage was 100 percent to both thecontents and the structure of the mobile home.
