Bessie R. Gardner Bullock

Services for Bessie R. Gardner Bullock, of Smithdale, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 1, at Brown Chapel Baptist Church in Smithdale withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 5 p.m. at R.E. Tyler FuneralHome and Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Bullock, 46, died July 27, 2009, at her residence. She wasborn in Smithdale on March 14, 1963, to Nelson Gardner and Mary AnnYoung Gardner.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Brown Chapel BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death was a brother.

Survivors are her father, Nelson Gardner, of McComb; her mother,Mary Ann Young Gardner, of Smithdale; her husband, Calvin Bullock,of Smithdale; a sister, Janice Gardner, of Smithdale; her halfsisters, Tamara Brister, of McComb, and Loletha Shelton, ofJackson.

William Glenn ‘Bill’ Reed

Services for William Glenn “Bill” Reed, of Monticello, are 11a.m. Friday, July 31, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapelwith graveside services at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in ButlerCemetery in Horseshoe Beach, Fla.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Reed, 64, died July 28, 2009, at his residence. He was bornon July 25, 1945, to Everett Glenn Reed and Thelma Louise VaughnCayson.

He was self-employed in the forestry business. He was aChristian.

Preceding him in death were his father, Everett Glenn Reed; hismother, Thelma Louise Cayson; an aunt, Loretta McCall; an uncle,Scottie McCall.

Survivors are his sons, Gary, of Tennessee, Jeffery, of Florida,Bernie, of Mississippi, and Josh Reed, of Georgia; his daughters,Tracey Watson, of Tennessee, Debbie Reed, of Tennessee, and MaryBeth Price, of Mississippi; a brother, Charles Bechtold, ofFlorida; and his sisters, Sandra Dye, Deborah Newman and PamelaCayson, all of Florida; his 28 grandchildren; and his threegreat-grandchildren.

The Rev. Joe H. Royalty

Services for the Rev. Joe H. Royalty, of Petal, are 10 a.m.Friday, July 31, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Hattiesburg withburial in Prentiss City Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

The Rev. Royalty, 87, died July 28, 2009, at Bedford CareCenter. He was born in Wiggins on Dec. 7, 1921, to Oscar H. Royaltyand Mattie Burkett.

The Rev. Royalty grew up in Bassfield, where he playedbasketball and graduated from Bassfield High School. He alsograduated from Mississippi College. For 64 years, he served inpastorates in both Mississippi and South Carolina. He also servedas an assistant to E.J. Daniels’ Christ for the World EvangelistAssociation. His evangelistic crusades carried him to South Africa,India, Brazil and Guatemala. His civic activities earned him manyawards including: Star Teacher of the Year at McClure Academy(1982-1983), Outstanding CASA Worker for Forrest County Youth Court(1995-1996), Volunteer of the Year for Forrest General Hospital anda 2000 Mississippi Ageless Heroes Award for community involvementin Petal.

Preceding him in death were his father, Oscar H. Royalty; astepmother, Natalie Royalty; his mother, Mattie Burkett; and astepfather, Guy Burkett.

Survivors are his wife, Emily Polk Royalty, of Petal; adaughter, Sharron Post Royalty, of Petal; a granddaughter,Stephanie Harrison, of England; and a great-granddaughter, EmiHarrison, of Petal.
