Isreal ‘Buddy’ Culver
Services for Isreal “Buddy” Culver, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 29, at Mt. Zion M.B. Church on Highway 550 inBrookhaven with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 1 until 7 p.m. with family presentfrom 6 until 7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.
Mr. Culver, 83, died Aug. 21, 2009, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. He was born in Brookhaven on May 1, 1926, toLucille Culver Powell.
He retired from the City of Brookhaven. He was a member of Mt.Zion M.B. Church.
Preceding him in death were his mother; a son, Isreal CulverJr.; a brother, Wilmer Culver; a sister, Queen Esther Culver; agrandson, Peyton Culver; his two great-granddaughters; and histhree great-grandsons.
Survivors are his wife, Dora V. Dixon Culver, of Brookhaven; ason, the Rev. Willie Culver and wife, Maebell, of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Mary Jones and husband, Sammy, and Lora Autman andhusband, Grady, all of Brookhaven; a brother, Hollis Powell, ofBrookhaven; his sisters, Marie Hilton, Dora Montgomery, both ofChicago, Ill., Mary Lyons and husband, Willie, Jessie Mae Scott andhusband, Woodrow, Inez Kelly and Alberta Patterson, all ofBrookhaven; his 20 grandchildren; his 37 great-grandchildren; histwo great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, otherrelatives and friends.
James Herman ‘J.H.’ Foster
Services for James Herman “J.H.” Foster, of Covington, La., andformerly of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at E.J.Fielding Funeral Home Chapel in Covington with burial in the Gardenof the Pines Mausoleum.
Visitation is Friday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Foster, 87, died Aug. 25, 2009, at Lakeview Regional MedicalCenter in Covington. He was born to Katie Case and Henry LeeFoster.
He was a native of Brookhaven and a resident of Covington forthe past 65 years, where he was a building contractor and adairyman.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Sylvia LoydFoster; and a brother, Wilmer Foster.
Survivors are his children, Sandra Kepley, James “Jimmy” FosterJr., Lynette Westmoreland and Mary Ellen Foster; a sister, LouiseMay, of Brookhaven; his eight grandchildren; and his eightgreat-grandchildren.
