BA Cougars claw Riverfield

RAYVILLE, La. -Cougar quarterback Chandler Rogers poweredBrookhaven Academy to a 37-8 win over the Riverfield AcademyRaiders Friday night. Rogers completed 12 of 22 passes for 186yards and 2 touchdowns.
Brookhaven Academy (3-0) entertains Amite School Center Fridayfor its first District 4-AA test of the season. The game begins at7 p.m. on R.M. “Red” Stuard Field
“We were flat,” said BA head coach Herbert Davis, describing histeam’s win. “We threw the ball well in the first half. I wasdisappointed in our lack of physicality. We didn’t run the ballwell.”
BA collected 3 touchdowns in the first quarter for a 20-0 leadover Riverfield. Rogers connected with Tripp Jolly for a 12-yardTD, Bubba Keene ran in for a 15-yard TD and Rogers followed with a2-yard score. Tyler Trout went 4-for-5 for extra-point kicks andnailed a 25-yard field goal.
Early in the second quarter, Riverfield cut the deficit to 20-8on a 10-yard pass-play from Kyle King to Dakota Moore followed by a2-point pass-play from the duo.
BA ran off 14 points before halftime to command a 34-8 lead.Rogers scored a 1-yard TD and hit Donovan Lorraine for a 36-yardscore.
In the fourth quarter, Trout kicked his field goal to give BA a37-8 lead.
Keene caught the football 3 times for 48 yards for the Cougars.Jolly followed with 32 yards on 3 catches. Jacob Philipp finishedwith 2 receptions for 39 yards.
On defense, Lorriane led the Cougars with 10 tackles. Eli Gatlinmade 8 tackles. Recovering a fumble was Michael Allen Allred.
