Jones Co. eludes Co-Lin

ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats survived afourth-quarter, Co-Lin comeback and defeated the Wolfpack 28-24 ona rainy Saturday night. It was the first win for the Bobcats (1-2,1-0) and climaxed JCJC’s Sports Hall of Fame celebration.
Co-Lin had two possessions to score after the Bobcats wentahead. On third down, at the JCJC 16-yard line, Co-Lin freshmanquarterback Percy Turner was stripped of the ball as he rolled outof the pocket looking for a receiver and the Bobcats recovered.
Turner completed 21 of 37 passes for 258 yards and 2 TDs. Hepassed 18 yards to Michael Berry for an early 7-0 lead and hookedup with Mike Shaw for 13 yards and a fourth quarter score.
Co-Lin’s Delmon Robinson had 6 catches for 58 yards. CarltonOllie made 4 catches for 51 yards. Shaw had 3 catches for 42yards.
Lee led the Co-Lin ground game with 22 carries for 106 yards. A3-yard plunge by Lee and Tyler Fitzgerald’s PAT kick had givenCo-Lin a 24-21 lead with 6:08 left in the game. The Wolves finishedwith 366 yards total offense.
Fitzgerald kicked a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Co-Lin was penalized 6 times for 45 yards.
JCJC quarterback Brian Robinson completed 11 of 20 passes for187 yards and 1 TD. He had 15 rushes for 57 yards.
Jamieon Keyes had 2 catches for 59 yards. Anthony Jackson caught2 passes for 38 yards.
A blocked field goal by JCJC’s DeAndrae McInnis was returned 55yards for a TD giving the Bobcats a 14-7 halftime lead.
The Bobcats had 29 rushes for 99 yards and 285 yards totaloffense. Brown had 12 carries for 41 yards.
JCJC was penalized 7 times for 60 yards.
Co-Lin (1-2, 0-1), coached by Glenn Davis, resumes play Thursdaynight, hosting Southwest Mississippi Community College (1-2, 0-1)for a South Division test. Kickoff is 7 p.m. in Stone Stadium.
