Enterprise splits with LCHS

The host Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets split a slowpitchsoftball doubleheader Monday with Lawrence County’s Lady Cougars.Lawrence County won the opener 7-3 but Enterprise took the finale5-2.

Lawrence County (13-5, 4-2) hosts Warren Central and Enterprise(15-5) is at Bassfield today. Lawrence County is second behindNorth Pike in the Region 7-4A standings.

“We hit off and on but we had a good game,” said LCHS interimcoach Tarvey Ward who replaced Courtney Shivers this week. “Thesewere good games to keep us ready for the (Class 4A state)playoffs”

Enterprise, 4-0 in Region 7-2A, hosts Wesson Thursday for aregion showdown. The state playoffs begin next Tuesday, Oct. 6.

“We played better in the second game,” said Enterprise coachSteve Sasser. “Our kids played aggressive and when we playaggressive, we are a good ballclub.

“Lawrence County hit the ball hard. This was a good warmup forthe playoffs.”

Lawrence 7, Enterprise 3

Shelby Mitchell (0 K, 1 BB) pitched the victory, allowing 5hits. Lacey Orr (0 K, 0 BB) absorbed the loss as the Cougarsexploded for 13 hits.

At the plate, catcher Dalphine Armstrong, first baseman HannahCalcote and Mitchell each singled twice and doubled for LCHS.Second baseman Jessie Alexander singled twice. Allie Harris tripledand Mary Margaret doubled as they took a 2-0, first-inninglead.

Enterprise got 5 hits. Shortstop Kolbi Lewis led the way with 2singles.

Enterprise 5, Lawrence 2

The Jackets race to a 3-0, third-inning lead as catcher HaleyBrazell singled twice and tripled. Lewis had 3 singles and a doublein the win.

Orr (1 K, 0 BB) chalked up the win. Mitchell (1 K, 1 BB)absorbed the loss.

The Cougars got 3 hits from Georgie Walker. Harris and Alexandersingled twice.
