Wysa Marie Dean

Memorial services for Wysa Marie Dean, of Brookhaven, are 5 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Willie Mae Tyler Memorial Chapel at R.E.Tyler Funeral Home in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Dean, 75, died Nov. 1, 2009, at her residence. She was bornin Brookhaven on May 7, 1934, to Brady Sanders and LucilleSanders.

She attended the Friendship School System in Brookhaven. Mrs.Dean worked at Whitworth College for a number of years. Later, sheworked at Brook Manor in Brookhaven and most recently at EasthavenBaptist Church as a child caregiver.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, EdwardLeroy Dean Sr.; and her brothers, Joe James and George Sanders.

Survivors are a daughter, Georgia Henderson, of Brookhaven; anda sister, Octavia Connley, of Beaumont, Texas; a grandchild; andtwo great-grandchildren.

Marie Griffin

Services for Marie Griffin, of Roxie, are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov.4, at Bude Church of God with burial in Midway Cemetery inMeadville. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Griffin, 79, died Nov. 2, 2009, at Franklin County MemorialHospital in Meadville. She was born in Glade, La., on June 24,1930, to Whitlock Mount and Leola Burley Mount.

She was a retired justice court judge. She was a member ofNatchez Church of God of Prophecy.

Preceding her in death were parents; her husband, Claude GriffinSr.; her sons, Whitlock Griffin and Claude Griffin Jr.; a brother;and a sister.

Survivors are her daughters, Diane Smith and husband, Jim, JanSmith and husband, Tony, all of Meadville, Toni Murray and husband,Stan, of Monterey, La., and Dink Smith and husband, Lewis, ofMeadville; her sisters, Carol Prudhomme, Shirley Smith and MargaretCarter, all of Jonesville, La.; her 15 grandchildren; and her sevengreat-grandchildren.

Janie C. Hutto

Graveside services for Janie C. Hutto, of Meadville, are 3 p.m.Tuesday, Nov. 3, at O’Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in FranklinCounty.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1 until 3 p.m. at Franklin FuneralHome.

Mrs. Hutto, 87, died Nov. 2, 2009, at Meadville ConvalescentHome. She was born in Franklin County on Feb. 13, 1921, to RobertE. Cotten and Wilkie M. Montgomery Cotten.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of O’Zion BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ed Hutto;and her brothers, Russell, Alphonse and Harris.

Survivors are her sons, Timmy Hutto, of Meadville, and JimmieHutto, of Jackson; a brother, Bob Cotten; her two grandchildren;her four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Gayle Walker Mercier

Services for Marjorie Gayle Walker Mercier, of McComb, are 3p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home Chapel inMcComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. The Rev. Ted Bowlin andthe Rev. Dr. David Millican will officiate.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 1until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mercier, 69, died Nov. 2, 2009. She was born in Jackson onJuly 28, 1940, to Paul S. and Marjorie Schroeder Walker.

She was a retired hairdresser having worked for Gentry TownHouse, Deville Beauty Salon and Milady’s Beauty Salon aftergraduating from Fondren College of Cosmetology in Jackson. Sheshared her time and talents with many of her friends and neighborsof South McComb and was always proud of her ongoing relationshipwith girlfriends of her youth, the South McComb Sisters. Mrs.Mercier was a nurturer, always trying to help others. She oftencooked and delivered food to shut-ins and was a mother who was veryprotective of her family. She was a member of South McComb BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Don W.Mercier; an infant son, Timothy Paul Mercier; a sister, Emily W.Brewer McElveen; and a grandson, Clay Bozeman.

Survivors are a daughter, Marjorie Bozeman, of McComb; her sons,Donnie Mercier, Jason Mercier and Kevin Mercier and wife, Barbara,all of McComb; a brother, Paul Walker and wife, Barbara, of McComb;her brothers-in-law, Thomas C. Mercier, of McComb, and EverettMcElveen, of Tylertown; her four grandchildren, Cole Bozeman,stationed in Iraq, Eddie Bozeman, of Magnolia, Shelley Bozeman, ofD’Iberville, and Gabriel Mercier and wife, Ginny, of Laurel; hertwo great-grandchildren, Breanna Bozeman, of D’Iberville, and KaneBozeman, of Magnolia; her two special aunts, Elaine Laird, of FortWalton Beach, Fla., and Jimmye Waker, of Jackson; and numerousnieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Cannon Ward, Gabriel Mercier, Sha Walker, BlakeBrewer, Mark Parrett and Tommy Laird. Honorary pallbearers are RayScott, Sammy Bozeman, Jimmy Long and Frank Cooley.
