Services for Katherine Holmes Foster, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, Nov. 30, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on North JacksonStreet with burial in Rosehill Cemetery.
Mrs. Foster, 82, died Nov. 26, 2009, in Metairie, La. She wasborn in Tallulah, La., on Jan. 21, 1927, to Mahlon P. Miller andThelma White Miller. She moved to Brookhaven at the age of 14.
She was in banking for 48 years, retiring from State Bank assenior vice president in 1992. She attended Whitworth College andwas a graduate of the charter class of the Mississippi School ofBanking at the University of Mississippi.
A longtime community servant, Mrs. Foster served two terms as aboard member of the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.She also served on the advisory board for Lincoln ResidentialCenter and Brookhaven Vo-Tech Advisory Council. She was a member ofthe Official Women’s Club of Mississippi, the Bank MarketingAssociation, Financial Women International and the IBAA. Shereceived the MBA 40 Years Service Award in 1981.
Her family will remember her with joy and intense gratitude forher consummate grace, inspiration, interest in the lives of others,her generosity of spirit, and most recently for this woman of deepand abiding Christian faith, her unbounded courage and calmdetermination in the face of a devastating illness. We will recallher with love, pride and thanksgiving and were blessed to haveknown her as a mother, wife, sister and aunt.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband of 35years, George B. Holmes.
Survivors are her devoted husband of 17 years, Joe H. Foster, ofBrookhaven; her daughter, Katherine La Coste and husband, Lee, ofMetairie; her son, Marty Holmes, of Brookhaven; her grandchildren,Joshua and George Holmes, of Brookhaven, and Victoria Russ andhusband, David, of Covington, La.; and her sister, Jean Case, ofSpanish Fort, Ala.
