Bogue Chitto’s girls also defended their title successfully asDarcy Miller’s game-high 22 points paced the Lady ‘Cats in a 54-29waltz past Loyd Star.

The Hornets (8-0) have won the round-robintitle nine of the last 14 years. On the boards, Glenn Thomas had 8rebounds plus 6 assists for the Hornets as they took a 38-17halftime lead

Joseph Shelby had 7 boards and Hamilton 5. Shelby collected 5steals.

Loyd Star Coach Gene (Moochie) Britt said his team playedextremely hard on defense against Bogue Chitto. “They turned theball over on the press and we got a lot of steals.”

The Hornets climbed to 8-0 on the season.

“I played 10 players the first half because our press was reallyworking for us,” said Britt. “I’m proud of the effort our kidsgave. They will get after you.”

Loyd Star visits Bogue Chitto Monday night for four games.

The Lady ‘Cats (11-1), coached by ChristiWallace, got 18 points from Aneshia Dillon. They led Loyd Star’sgirls 37-14 at halftime.

Loyd Star (1-7), coached by Billy Vaughn, got 17 points and 11rebounds from Tyreisha Patterson. Leah Britt and Anna Brooks had 7rebounds apiece. Britt made 3 steals and 3 assists.
