Charles B. ‘C.B.’ Shannon

Services for Charles B. “C.B.” Shannon, of Wesson, were 11 a.m.Saturday, Dec. 12, at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home Chapel withburial in Mt. Shady Grove M.B. Church Cemetery in Wesson.

Mr. Shannon, 85, died Dec. 7, 2009, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital in Hazlehurst. He was born in Copiah County on Aug. 10,1924, to Mary Shannon and Phin Shannon.

Mr. Shannon was a member of Mt. Shady Grove M.B. Church inWesson where he served as deacon for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, X.L.Shannon, J.C. Shannon and Jimmie Shepard Sr.; and his sisters, CoraLee Webb, Elsie Ruth Byther, Dora Mae Brown, Mattie Mae Overton,Rosie Mae Durr and Sally Shannon.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Elma Lee Shannon; his sons,Gil Shannon Sr., of Calumet City, Ill., Otha Shannon, of GlendaleHeights, Ill., Argusta Shannon, of Wesson, and Charles W. Shannon,of Bogue Chitto; his daughters, Mary Shannon-Smith, of Brookhaven,and Betsy A. Shannon, of Byram; a brother, Eddie Frank Shannon, ofDetroit, Mich.; a sister, Climerteen Lyles, of Jackson; his sevengrandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; his threegodchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.
