James ‘Jay’ Davis Jr.

Memorial services for James “Jay” Davis Jr., of Tylertown, are 2p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home Chapel inTylertown. The Revs. Dan Perry and Mike Evans will officiate.

Mr. Davis, 69, died Dec. 13, 2009, at his residence. He was bornin Lincoln County on July 23, 1940, to James Chesterfield and LuraBeeson Davis.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church inBrookhaven, a longtime Mason, and served in the U.S. Army. Mr.Davis was also a retired garment industry manager of 40 years. Hewas an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. Mr. Daviswas a wonderful family man and was loved by every life andindividual he touched.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his sisters, LavonSeals and Fannie Chesser.

Survivors are his wife, Judy Holmes Davis, of Tylertown; hissons, Keith Davis and wife, Leanne, and Wayne Baughman and wife,Tammy, all of Tylertown; his daughters, Cindy Gerber and husband,the Rev. Fred Gerber, of Morton, and Donna Fortenberry Brister, ofTylertown; his brothers, Johnnie Davis, of Brookhaven, and ManonDavis, of Tylertown; his sisters, Ann Rushing, of Tylertown, ElaineCude, of Bulverde, Texas, and Margie Calcote, of Brookhaven; his 11grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant GroveUnited Methodist Church in Brookhaven or New Zion Baptist Church inTylertown.
