West Lincoln splits with North Pike

SUMMIT – North Pike’s refurbished gymnasium apparently agreeswith the West Lincoln Bears. Sparked by Jay Case’s 25-pointoutburst, the Bears roared to a 63-41 Monday night win over theNorth Pike Jaguars. Case’s total included eight treys as the Bearssacked a total of 13 treys in the game as a steady rain tattooedthe gym’s roof.
In the varsity girls game, North Pike’s Shanika Turner tossed in22 points in the Lady Jaguars’ 61-44 win over West Lincoln. OliviaKennedy chipped in 12 points and Kaylin Hughes 11.
West Lincoln hosts Vicksburg St. Aloysius Friday night.
The Bears (9-4) got 16 points from BrandonRobinson and 11 from Jared Case as they sprinted to a 31-14halftime lead.
“We played well and we played with confidence,” said WestLincoln coach Lane Young. “Our guards shot the three very well. Wecontinue to improve game by game.”
Robinson dished out 6 assists and Jay Case 5 in the victory.
North Pike, coached by Keith Russ, missed numerous shots in thelane. The Jaguars got 18 points from LeMichael Quin and 10 fromErik Allen.
The Lady Jaguars (5-2), coached by LanceGolman, dominated the inside game and controlled the backboards.They led 30-24 at halftime and outscored West Lincoln 31-20 thesecond half.
“North Pike’s guards made a lot of shots and we played catch-upall night,” said Coach Young. “We can’t afford to keep turning theball over carelessly.”
The Lady Bears (8-5) got 15 points from guard Tati Marshall.Keri Easley chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. KristenHall grabbed 6 rebounds.
Junior Varsity Results
West Lincoln edged North Pike 37-36 in a preliminary JV boysgame as Darrius Clark scored 8 points and Tyler Smith and LoganKing 6 apiece.
North Pike got 20 points from Anthony Jefferson.
