Services for Charles Hughes Cole, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Friday, Dec. 18, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drivewith burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and Friday from 1until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole, 93, died Dec. 16, 2009, at Hospice Ministries inRidgeland.

He served in the Army Air Force during World War II receivingthe Silver Star medal and other citations. He married Wilma Walkerand they moved to Brookhaven in 1953. He was also a longtime JohnDeere dealer and a cattle and timber farmer.

Mr. Cole was a faithful member of First Baptist Church inBrookhaven. He was a member of the Mississippi Forestry Associationand the Lincoln County Forestry Association and was recognized asSouthwest Mississippi Tree Farmer of the Year. He will beremembered for his desire to help others, his integrity and hisloyalty to family and friends.

Survivors are his wife, Wilma Walker Cole, of Brookhaven; a son,Charles H. Cole Jr. and wife, Frances Rushton Cole, of Flowood; adaughter, Mary Cole Shivers and husband, Robert D. Shivers, ofTylertown; a sister, Ruth Cowart Dale, of Monticello; and his fourgrandchildren, Christopher Shivers and wife, Kasey, of Houston,Texas, Courtney Shivers, of Monticello, and Elizabeth Cole andEmily Cole, of Flowood.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Brookhaven andHospice Ministries.
