Services for James Wilmer Howell, of Monticello, were 11 a.m.Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Monticello Methodist Protestant Church withburial in Bethshan Cemetery in Monticello. Wilson Funeral Home inMonticello was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Howell, 83, died Dec. 20, 2009, at Lawrence County Hospitalin Monticello. He was born in Lawrence County on Feb. 25, 1926, toPercy W. Howell and Mary Edna Hall Howell.
He was a retired diesel mechanic and truck driver. Mr. Howellserved in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member ofMonticello Methodist Protestant Church. He was also a member of theMonticello Masonic and Shriner Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, MaryNell Peavey Howell; and his three brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Earleen Buchanan Reid Howell; his sons,Bill Howell, Dale Howell, Lynn Howell, David Howell, all ofMonticello, Russ Howell, of Sontag, Randy Howell, of Monticello,and Bobby Don Miller, of Brandon; his daughters, Annelle Young, ofMonticello, Kay Mullens, of Booneville, Brenda Stormo, ofMonticello, Sandra Nations, of Gentry, Ark., and Rose Davis, ofMonticello; his brothers, Buel Howell, of Brookhaven, Dewey Howell,of Jayess, and Donald Howell, of Monticello; his sisters, LouiseWalker, of Brookhaven, and Vonice Thompson, of Center; his 28grandchildren; his 43 great-grandchildren; and his 19great-great-grandchildren.
