Lady Jackets take tourney; Cobra teams roll

DEXTER – The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets captured the DexterTournament Wednesday night following a 46-43 win over the PerryCentral Lady Bulldogs.

In the consolation games, the Wesson girls beat Perry Central46-43 and the Wesson boys clipped Amite County 63-46.

Enterprise travels to Puckett Tuesday night for 4 games. Thejunior varsity girls begin play at 4 p.m. Wesson entertains MadisonSt. Joseph for 3 games, beginning with the junior varsity boys at 5p.m.

Enterprise 46, P. Central 43

The Lady Jackets (10-5) were led to the win by senior Lacey Orrwith 17 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Laken Rawlsgrabbed 8 rebounds. Karla Beth Hux followed with7 rebounds and 3assists. Veonka Sanders also had 7 rebounds.

“It was a great win for us,” said Enterprise girls coach JillNations. “We played three bigger schools. We defensed theirshooters very well. It was a great win for us.”

Deanna Bolton led Perry Central with 18 points.

Wesson 49, West Marion 38

Leading the Wesson girls (12-4) with 13 points and 4 rebounds 4assists 4 steals was Ann Shelby Davis. Ansley Schimmel fired in 9points. Shauntay Walker 7 rebounds and 3 steals and 2 blockedshots. Macie Case made 5 steals.

“We did pretty well,” said Wesson boys coach Ron Kessler who issubstituting for girls coach Hugh Webb who is recovering for heartsurgery. “They played well. The girls game was the most physicalgame we have played this year.”

Wesson 63, Amite County 56

Hunter Hood led the Wesson boys (5-10) with 17 points and 6rebounds. Tyler Lumley fired in 14 points and grabbed 8 reboundsand made 3 steals. Terry Brown collected 6 rebounds.

“The first time this year, we cut down our turnovers and playedfour quarters of solid basketball,” said Kessler. “We got some hugerebounds at some crucial times and made our free throws when itcounted.”
