Linda Sue Hammond

Services for Linda Sue Hammond, a longtime resident ofBrookhaven and native of Gloster, are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, atBrown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster with burial in RoselandCemetery in Gloster. The Rev. Odus Jackson and Kevin Walsh willofficiate services.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hammond, 64, died Jan. 3, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter in Brookhaven. She was born on March 19, 1945, to RobertEarl Smith and Elizabeth Martin Smith.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert Earl Smith andElizabeth Martin Smith; and her brothers, Bobby Smith and JosephSmith.

Survivors are her husband, Donald Hammond, of Brookhaven; hersons, Paul M. Hammond and wife, Karen, of Gloster, and Philip M.Hammond, of Brookhaven; a brother, Harold “Buster” Smith, ofGloster; and her two grandchildren, Megan Hammond and Alex Hammond,of DeRidder, La.

Lt. Cmdr. Albert C. Storey

Lt. Cmdr. Albert C. Storey, U.S. Navy, retired, 80, of Gautier,passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Storey was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Wesson to Mr. and Mrs.Walter Wren Storey. He served 27 years in the U.S. Navy andreceived numerous prestigious awards throughout his militarycareer. He commanded troops and ships in combat zones. His travelstook he and his family to several overseas assignments.

After retirement, he moved his family to the Mississippi GulfCoast and was employed in ships management with IngallsShipbuilding, also known as Northrop Grumman Ship Systems, for 20years. Mr. Storey was an avid golfer and a charter member of theMississippi National Country Club. He was an active member of theMasonic Lodge, Mississippi Gulf Coast Shrine Club and the AmericanLegion Post No. 160.

Mr. Storey was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.Walter Wren Storey; Maria C. Storey, mother of his children;daughter, Vanessa Sue Storey; brothers, Edgar Storey and JamesStorey; and sister, Inez Coleman.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his soul mate and loveof his life, Gayle Schoeder; a son, Dennis J. (Rhonda) Storey, ofBristow, Va.; daughters, Catherine Storey and Charlene Philabaum,both of Gautier; sisters, Bess Gruchy, of Tallahassee, Fla., andSue (Ken) Weems, of Houston, Texas; brother, Charlton Storey, ofTallahassee, Fla.; granddaughters, Brooke, Desiree and Marie;grandson, Justin; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, atBradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends mayvisit from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow inBiloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
