Hall said the truck and safe were discovered missing around 7:45a.m. Tuesday, and the truck was recovered in the Bogue Chitto Riverin Pike County Wednesday just before 10 a.m.

“It was located in Pike County on Alford Bridge Road in the BogueChitto River,” he said. “They had it pulled out by the time I gotthere.”

Hall said the safe was not with the vehicle.

Authorities do not believe the crime to be connected to others inthe area. Hall said it doesn’t seem to match anything else thesheriff’s department has seen this year.

“This just strikes us as kind of out there,” he said. “We don’thave a lot of stolen vehicles in Lincoln County. Usually if a caris reported stolen, it’s been repossessed or a relative hasit.”

Hall asked that anyone who might know something about the crime tocontact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department at 601-833-5231, oranonymous tips can be called in to Lincoln County Crimestoppers at601-823-0150.
