James Robert ‘Jimmy’ Harrington

Services for James Robert “Jimmy” Harrington, of Hazlehurst, are11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at Strong Hope Baptist Church, withburial in the church cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Services inHazlehurst is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Harrington, 61, died Feb. 23, 2010, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson.
A native of Hazlehurst, he graduated from Copiah-Lincoln CommunityCollege. He was employed with Hazlehurst Lumber Company for 25years. He was a member of Strong Hope Baptist Church. He served inthe U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received thePurple Heart and the Naval Service Cross. He sang in the quartet atStrong Hope Baptist Church and loved camping. He was affectionatelyknown as “Sweet Pea” by his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant son, KevinHarrington.
Survivors are his wife, Donnis Strickland Harrington; his sons,Robbie Harrington and fiancee Dawn, and D.J. Harrington, all ofWesson; his daughters, Kim Roberts and husband Wayne, and AmyOberschmidt and husband Blake, all of Wesson; his brother, JohnnyHarrington of Mobile, Ala.; his sister, Patsy Berch, of Hazlehurst;his grandchildren, Brittany Roberts, Morgan Harrington, BlaineRoberts, and Kayla Oberschmidt; his stepgrandchildren, Tommy andMichael Roberts; and his great-stepgrandchild, Brady Roberts.
