Webb steps down at Wesson

WESSON – Wesson Attendance Center principal Ronald Greerannounced Wednesday that Wesson head girls basketball coach HughWebb will be stepping down at the end of the school year.

“Coach Webb did an outstanding job with our girls,” said Greer. “Hetook them places they had never been. We wish him the best.”

Greer said that assistant girls coach Rusti Magee will be takingover as the new head coach.

Webb served as Wesson’s head coach for the past four years. Hisoverall record at Wesson is 86-36 as the Lady Cobras wonback-to-back Region 6-2A titles the last two years. He was namedThe DAILY LEADER’S 2009 Coach of the Year on the All-Area GirlsBasketball Team.

“I’m taking a year off and recharging my battery,” said Webb who isrecovering from quadruple bypass heart surgery back in December. “Ihave progressed along well. I don’t have the energy level to do thethings that I have done in the past that relates to getting thegirls ready for the next season.”
