Services for Marvin Godbold, of McComb, are 11 a.m. Saturday,March 6, at Central Baptist Church in McComb, with burial inHollywood Cemetery. Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home in McComb is incharge of arrangements.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church, and onSaturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. Godbold, 73, died March 2, 2010. He was born in Pike County onOct. 14, 1936, to the late Sherall M. Godbold Sr. and Frances KyzarGodbold Boyd.
He served the City of McComb Police Department for more than 20years and was a retired funeral director. He was the former managerof Hartman Funeral Home in Crystal Springs and Tylertown, andCatchings Funeral Home in McComb. He was elected as a McComb CitySelectman and served four terms as selectman at large. He was amember of Central Baptist Church in McComb. He was a 50-year memberof McComb City Lodge No. 382 F&AM, and was a member of theWahabi Shriners Temple.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather, MertonBoyd.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy “Dot” Sanders Godbold,of McComb; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Mitch O’Quin, ofMandeville, La.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and JanGodbold, of Bogue Chitto, and Don and Sue Godbold, of Brookhaven;his sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and K.C. Avery, ofSpringfield, Va.; and his grandchildren, Corey O’Quin and wife,Megan, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Katie O’Quin, of Mandeville.
Pallbearers are Mitch O’Quin, Corey O’Quin, Sidney Adams, DennisWhite, Sammy Williams and Joe Magee. Honorary pallbearers areelected and former elected officials of the City of McComb andformer McComb Police officers who served with Mr. Godbold.
