Services for Mynell Blackwell Holmes, of Bogue Chitto, are 3p.m. Saturday, March 6, at New Zion Union Missionary Baptist Churchin Bogue Chitto, with burial in Bogue Chitto/Norfield Cemetery.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holmes, 84, died March 2, 2010, at her residence. She was bornin Lincoln County on Dec. 19, 1925, to J.C. Blackwell and MinetteMcGee Blackwell.

She was retired. She was a member of New Zion Union M.B.Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, AltonNelson Sr.; her second husband, Robert Dorsey; her third husband,Sammy Holmes; her sons, Alton Nelson Jr. and Robert Dorsey; herdaughter, Jena Kaye Bullock; her brothers, Ganner Blackwell, JamesBlackwell and William Blackwell; her sisters, Mary Lou Brown, NelmaEdwards and Hilda Montgomery; and her grandchildren, Victor Nelsonand Dexter Turner.

Survivors are her daughters, Deborah Turner and husband Benton,Lorraine Lewis and husband Rufus, and Sally Godbolt, all of BogueChitto; her brothers, Levan Blackwell and wife Grace, of BogueChitto, Matthew Blackwell and wife Bess, of Jackson, WesleyBlackwell and wife Jessie Mae, of Springfield, Mass., Murry LeeBlackwell and wife Phyllis, of Atlanta, Ga. and James Blackwell andwife Evelyn, of Houston, Texas; her sisters, Velvelyn Foster andhusband E.C., of Jackson, and Elnora Dorsey, of Dallas, Texas; her15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, otherrelatives and friends.
