Danny Holmes
Services for Danny Holmes, of Monticello, are 2 p.m. Monday, March8, at Bethel Baptist Church with burial in Bethel Cemetery. WilsonFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Holmes, 58, died March 6, 2010, at his residence. He was bornin Tylertown on Aug. 7, 1951, to Robert Vernon Holmes and GladysMorris Holmes.
He was an inventory controller for Duncan’s Operations. He was amember of Saul’s Valley Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brothers, SammyHolmes and Rickey Holmes.
Survivors are his wife, Susan Harvey Holmes; his daughter, TrenaBass and husband, Terry, of Monticello; his grandson, Justin Bass,of Monticello; his granddaughter, Ashley Bass, of Monticello; andhis sister, Sandra Turner, of Silver Creek.
Delia Smith King
Services for Delia Smith King, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Sunday,March 7, at Siloam M.B. Church with burial in the church cemetery.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. King, 98, died March 2, 2010, at the University of MississippiMedical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on June 22, 1911, toBart Smith and Elizabeth Buie Smith.
She was a member of Siloam M.B. Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, ClarenceKing; her sons, Jessie King and Robert “June” King; and herbrothers, Cato Smith, Grant London and Robert Smith.
Survivors are her grandson, Edward King and wife, Alma, ofBrookhaven; her granddaughters, Myrtis Tillman and husband, Robert,of Brookhaven, Laura Kersee, of Houston, Texas, Helen Johnson, ofWaterloo, Iowa, Deletha King, of Los Angeles, Calif., and JessieLyes, of Rock Island, Ill.; her sister, Louvena Porter, of Chicago,Ill.; her special friend, Shack Avant, of Brookhaven; her specialniece, Georgia Knox, of Brookhaven; 13 grandchildren; 9great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.
Thomas RaymondMorrissey
Services for Thomas Raymond Morrissey, of Wesson, are 10 a.m.Monday, March 8, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel on Natchez Drivewith burial in Mission Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Wesson. TheRev. Tommy Purvis will officiate.
Visitation is Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m.until the time of the service. Both visitation services will beheld at the funeral home.
Mr. Morrissey, 93, died March 4, 2010, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in St. Joe, Mo., on July 14, 1916, to ThomasRaymond Morrissey and Mabel Agnes Godsey Morrissey.
He was a retired systems analyst having worked for IBM for manyyears. He was a member of the Lions Club, Area Fifty-Plus Club, theInvestment Club and the Institute For Learning In Retirement atCopiah-Lincoln Community College. He was also a member of MissionHill Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Maggie Mae WardMorrissey; and his infant sister, Elizabeth Morrissey.
Survivors are his daughter, Julia Arnold and husband, Robert MosesArnold, of Bronx, N.Y.; his cousins, Mary Jo Byrne, Patrick Byrne,John Byrne and Tommy Byrne; and his special friends, Sally Smithand Mike Allen.
